With the revival of the Red Culture, the business of a specialized collector Li “the King” has boomed. After he met the daughter of Chairman Mao one day, his life has been completely changed since then.

Synopsis

Li “the King” was born in 1974 in Yan’an – the most important Red Base of Mao’s Communist Party. Since he was a child, he has been deeply attached to Chairman Mao and all sorts of antiques related to the Red revolution period. In 2000, he went to Beijing alone to start his professional career as a collector specialized in Red antiques.
Li’s mentor Liu Tiehua was born in Beijing in the year of 1940. He is an established collector and seller of Red antiques. He is the one who led Li into this field and introduced him to many important figures.
Introduced by Liu Tiehua, Li had the chance to meet the daughter of Chairman Mao. Since then, his antique shop quickly prospered with his fame greatly enhanced. He started to feel like a real “king” in this field - until his shop was forcibly torn down by the local government in the name of “purging the low-end migrants”. This incident shook Li’s conviction for the first time.
Liu Tiehua was pushed out from the core committee by the new chairman of the Red Collectors’ Association. He realized that he was left behind by the younger generations. He spent almost his entire life establishing a museum of Red collections, but he is not sure for how long this museum will sustain.

In nowadays China, the left wing red culture is trending again. How will it affect the teacher and disciple duo of Red collection? What is waiting for them ahead?
